Resurrection Life - Wednesday
Hello! Today we went to JUMBO (it is like a Wal-Mart/Tops) and bagged food for 100 familes. The bags consisted of a 5 pound bag of rice, 4 pounds of beans, a package of chicken broth flavor, salt and some Dominican coffee. We then took it to a village and shared with the children songs, testimonies from both Matt P. and Jocelyn and a brief message from Pastor Dan. As that was going on our interpreter was handing out tickets so that they could receive the food bags. While they were waiting we were able to share with them one of our drama and two more testimonies from Jan and Craig with a message from Pastor Ken that was geared toward the adults that were in the group. It was a wonderful experience to be able to feed so many people in this village and it is all because of your gracious donations. So THANK YOU !!!!
After visiting the village we were able to go and visit Jackie’s House in Santo Domingo. Jackie is an amazing woman full of faith. She takes in children from prostitutes and raises them in her orphanage. Christian missionaries come and visit the kids all the time. I don’t know how to explain this woman and her faith. She is amazing. The kids did some songs and danced for us then hugged us all goodbye and prayed for us. It was so touching!!!
Then, we visited the house that was owned by the son of Christopher Columbus in Santo Domingo. It was beautiful. We handed out tracks in the city square there. Everyone had one in no time. There were Res Lifers all over the place! Tomorrow we are off to Catalina Island for our day off and then we fly home Friday. I can hardly believe this trip is just about over.
Three nights ago there was a tarantula outside. Then, 2 days later there was one in the road we walk across all the time (it was dead) and now as I type this, they just killed a tarantula over there - near the dining room. Some kid has pierced it with a stick and was showing the girls. It’s all in an average day here in the Dominican.
These people are amazing. I feel blessed to be able to have worked with and for the Dominican people. The whole experience has just been excellent. Thank you for all your prayers!!! Don’t stop praying! We need favor with the airports and flight schedules and as we go to Catalina Island tomorrow to do snorkeling, we need to be safe! So keep praying.
God bless and we will see you soon. Maybe I can post one more time when we return from our day off tomorrow.
