Medowbrook Medical

The Meadowbrook medical team in Costa Rica started the day off early, leaving the Score Villa at 7:30 a.m. to travel two hours up the mountain through the rain forest and to the home and church of Pastor Jose’s brother, Abby.
We were greeted by Abby and his wife and immediately began preparing for our first clinic of this trip. Before long, the patients began to appear. Their blood pressure was taken, and complaints were recorded by Henry, Lindsey, and Ben before their being examined and treated by Monica. Those who needed surgery waited their turn to be treated by Dr. Echeverri. Kathy Echeverri and Lea Sparks assisted in the surgeries, along with other members of the team. Charles Lancaster, Henry Culp and Stephen Sparks had the important job of holding the flashlight so Dr. Echeverri could see to perform the surgeries. Fifty-three men, women, and children were treated, including 13 surgeries. The patients were then sent to the pharmacy to Mona, Robbie and Betsy for the medicines they needed.
While all of this was taking place, Molly shared Jesus with the children, and entertained them so their parents could receive the treatment they needed. Natalie and Lilly visited with the children and helped make their visit with the doctor much less frightening.
We returned to the Villa around 7:30 p.m. and had a wonderful dinner. Pastor Jose shared some Scripture with us in I Corinthians regarding “avoiding all evil”, and we were blessed by the testimony of a lady missionary who was in the jungle for 13 years in Chili and Venesuela. That certainly challenged us, and made us thankful for the awesome God we serve.
It was a great day in Costa Rica. To God be the glory for the great things He has done!
