Pumpkinvine Baptist Church - Friday

Hola! Well this is our last evening in the DR…this week has absolutely flown by for all of us. It’s getting pretty late…so I’ll probably be shorter with this post.
We received a wonderful blessing from the Lord today…a trip to Catalina Island. We got to take a boat trip over to the island where we simply had some down time today. It was an opportunity to fellowship with one another and with Bob and Anna. The white sandy beach and the beautiful turquoise-colored water were magnificent and reminded us of God’s beautiful and splendid creation. We got to snorkel and view some gorgeous coral reefs and take in all the exotic plant and animal life underwater. We were also treated today with a wonderful buffet lunch, with fresh fruit, pastas, chicken & beef, and potatoes.
We have spent most of the evening during our devotion time tonight reminiscing all the missions activities from the week. We discussed how this trip has been much more than what typical ‘missions’ work is thought to be. We have been able to evangelize this week through tract and bible distribution in the capital city of Santo Domingo and in Monte Cristy, sharing the Gospel with 65+ children in Los Conucos and 70+ people at the medical clinic in Consquelo. We have worshiped with our Dominican brothers and sisters in Christ in the Baptist church in San Pedros and at the Score Complex. We have further developed our servanthood in unloading a tractor-trailer load of food for future distribution and cleaning up an ‘old-folks’ home in Monte Cristy. We have been discipled under Bob this week in Santo Domingo and through our nightly devotions at the SCORE Complex. We have fellowshipped with one another, as well as with some of the other groups that are here. (By the way, a group arrived today from Mt. Paran Christian School in Marietta, GA – what a small world.) We have also ministered to the physical and spiritual needs through the medical clinic and our time at the orphanage in La Ramona.
So we pray that we have made an impression on the people we have come into contact with here in the DR. We are very thankful for the Lord giving us this opportunity to minister in His name. Evangelism, worship, servanthood, discipleship, fellowship, and ministry – WOW! – sounds like the Lord is teaching us how to be The Church!
Well, it’s late and we’ll be traveling most of the day tomorrow – so this is also the last post on the website before we get back home. Please pray for our safe return to the states tomorrow. Our flight leaves the DR at 3:00 pm and we are scheduled to land in Atlanta at 6:30 pm. So Jerry and Dana…we will not be through baggage claim until around 7:00 pm…see you then. Thank you all again that have been diligently praying for us and have kept up with our journeys…you have been an inspiration and a blessing. Why don’t you plan to come back with us next year? See you tomorrow…Adios!
Brad
