KIds Across America Higher Ground - Wednesday
|
Today was another day of visiting local villages. This village had an actual baseball field, complete with dugouts for both teams. These ended up being great places to separate the kids for our skits and songs. Many adults come out to see what is going on so many of them heard the gospel, sang songs, and watched the meaningful skits. They didn’t show much interest, but the kids were very attentive. You never know when something might be getting through, even if we don’t see it. The young children are fascinated with bubbles and usually try to run off with the bottle so they can take it home. We got one photo with a group of kids watching an HG student blowing bubbles and little ones popping them. All of the kids want their picture taken, and then they want to see it after you take it. There were two particular little boys who were laughing and giggling over their picture, which made for a great picture itself. After a morning of serving, we had an afternoon of free time. Ten of the students went on a horse back ride (unfortunately one of them seemed to be highly allergic and had some face swelling) but at least they got a new experience. Then everyone walked to the beach and took on the waves for a couple of hours. For some of the kids, this was their first experience in any kind of an ocean or sea. They all had a great time and no one was hurt, which is always a blessing. Tonight all of the groups at SCORE are doing a sort of talent show, so we will be performing some of our skits and songs that we are doing for the villages. I’m sure it will be enlightening for everyone. |
