SCORE International Guys Basketball - Tuesday
This morning we went to Baseball City where there are a lot of major league facilities. We watched the Cubs and Rockies play, not the real teams in the MLB but their Dominican recruited players. The morning was kind of slow; we just sat and watched some baseball. In the afternoon, before our game, we walked down to the beach to buy some paintings and some kids climbed a tree and got coconuts for us. Our game today was on the third story of a mall in Santo Domingo, kind of on the roof. The other team was a bunch of players whose fathers had all been pro Dominican players at one time. And they too are going to play pro ball in Europe soon. They were all between 18 and 23 years old… a bit older and stronger than us. They had about 4 or 5 guys taller than 6 foot 7 and they were ridiculously athletic. We lost by approximately 50 points and they had over a hundred points after three quarters!! Tonight after the game we had devotions at the Embassy Suites with Ron Bishop, President of SCORE International. They took a little longer than expected and Denny was not able to take us tarantula hunting like he said… Hopefully tomorrow. Unfortunately we can’t get game six of the NBA playoffs on our TV but the Celtics should pull it out. Hopefully when we play tomorrow morning we won’t get shellacked.
