Grace Christian Basketball - Saturday
Whenever missions are involved, challenges abound. Ashley Clark almost missed the trip by having the wrong passport. Our entire team divided into groups and prayed. God graciously answered by her passport being retrieved in a timely manner. Also, Coach Green and family had carefully acquired and packed a variety of items for missions in DR. Unfortunately, despite prior assurances, the American Airline folks said “no” to the container. All the material needed to be re-distributed. Eric put some salsa in his carry-on bag until security. By that time it had spilled, causing the security guard to ask if Eric had gotten sick! (Fortunately, all his gear has now been washed.) The flights were uneventful, except we learned that DR is not on daylight savings time–hence their time is our time. We arrived in some rain and traveled about 30 minutes to the SCORE compound. After a nice spagetti dinner, we unpacked, received our orientation and had devotions. It’s a nice open-air facility on a main highway, 2 blocks from the beach. Our rooms are air-conditioned, though short on hot water. Praise God for our safe travels!
