Christian Central Academy - Saturday

Today was another day full of blessings and love. Today we had the choice of either having free time or going to visit another village. We all agreed to go and minister to one of the villages we visited earlier in the week.  We had gone there to give to a pastor in need and ended up falling in love with the people in the village. Previously at the village, Ashley was trying to tell a little girl that she liked her earrings and she told her they were bonita (pretty) and then the girl tried to put them in Ashley’s ears. They have nothing and yet they were trying to give their precious things away.  We were there trying to spread joy to them and give them things but at the same time they were blessing us more!  We come with all this money and all these things and we give 20% of what we have and say we gave a lot.  There, they are giving us all they have.  They taught us how to be givers even when you don’t have a lot!So, today we went back and performed our plays, gave some testimonies, and had a message spoken to the people. We also had fun playing with the kids. The kids were full of love and appreciation. They were so happy just to spend time with us. We were able to paint their faces, give them stickers, and play with them. We also were able to buy them food, a basketball, and a soccer ball. Some other people also gave personal items away. Anna gave her shoes to a girl, Ashley gave her hair clips to another girl, and Jenny gave her sunglasses away. God is really showing all of us how much we have and how we need to share with those in need. We are so blessed by God and now we are giving our blessing to others.- Sarah Wade and Ashley Tom

Today was a day of mixed emotions. As we left, Jay said, “We waited our whole senior year for this trip and now its over.” This is sad but true. The truth is, however, we have impacted the lives of countless Dominicans with the message of Jesus Christ and they have impacted us. Their happiness in spite of their situation and their contentment in the face of adversity is something to be admired especially when we come from a country of abundance and wealth. We all really learned something about ourselves and about each other. Matthew 28:19-20 says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” I am glad to say that the Christian Central Academy Class of 2008 truly went out and made disciples in the Dominican Republic, sharing the Gospel with lost souls, and butchering the Spanish language. God Bless.

We are getting ready to head home.  We had a wonderful dinner out last night at a place near the beach and then we came back to do our final wrap up where the students talked about what impacted them the most on this trip.  God has done some incredible things while we were here in the hearts and lives of the students.  Please pray for a safe return for us as we pack and get ready to leave the SCORE complex around 12:00 pm today.   We will have the students call you once we get through Customs and Immigration in Atlanta.  See you soon! :-)
