Cedarville Univ Womens Soccer - Tuesday
Greetings from the Dominican! Today, Tuesday, was a wonderful day of
serving and playing as well. We were able to go this morning to visit
the two girls we are supporting through Compassion International. We
went to Compassion’s main sight first, and then to each of the two
girls’ homes. We gave them our gifts including backpacks, school
supplies, candy, and other misc. items. It was wonderful to be able to
meet the families and show them the love of Christ.
After that visit, we headed to the capital to eat lunch at McDonalds.
It was pretty much exactly like the U.S., with fewer choices. We also
got in some shopping at the local market where we all got a chance to
barter for our items.
We then headed to the University Autonomous of Santo Domingo to play our
first match against their college team. We had been told that the team
was very skilled and that it would be a competitive game. Needless to
say, we ended up winning 4-0. We were able to share the John 3:16 ball
and a testimony at half-time, which very clearly layed out the Gospel to
them. There was quite a bit of taunting and comments from the men in
the audience, but they calmed down and listened eventually. After the
game we were also able to connect with some of the girls on a more
personal level. Some shared email addresses and we gave them all a
bracelet with the J3:16 ball colors in it. I believe we really touched
some girls through that.
Pray for tomorrow as we head to the Sugar Cane Village where we will see
some extreme poverty. We are buying enough food from the market to feed
numerous families for a month.
Pray also for our second clinic and second match as well that the Gospel
will once again be clearly shared.
Praise God for what He’s done already!!
